Beach escape

Last weekend was wonderful. So, so lovely. I spent the weekend at a friend of the family's beach house in Broulee (South Coast). I absolutely love it there. There is nothing more calming and relaxing than being out of touch with my hectic life, hearing nothing but rolling waves and feeling the sand between my toes. I was pretty excited about the little road trip, sometimes you just need to escape for a little while!
Early morning beach walks with my mumma are the best. I love Broulee beach. We were also so lucky with the weather- it was glorious!
On Saturday we ventured into Moruya to go to the markets!
I loved this little lemonade and cupcake stall run by some sweet little girls!
On Sunday Tim joined us!
He decided he definitely needed to represent Canada in his lumberjack hat on the beach!
Gorilla Bay
My lovely Katie also joined us for Sunday!
 Tim gave us guitar-lele lessons!

A wonderful weekend with the best people. Wish I was still down there x

Something in the air!

Last weekend there was a buzz around little Canberra- as we celebrated our 100th Birthday (such a youngen, our little city!). I am a sucker for fun events, so had a wonderful weekend embracing all the things on!
Every year around this time the skies fill with hot air balloons on early summer mornings. It's a bit of a tradition in our family to get up at 6am to watch them rise and then go have a BBQ breakfast at black mountain. So of course we had to rise to the occasion (haha)!
I love seeing the new ones- this amazing peacock was a definite fave! A hot favourite was also the giant Darth Vader head!
I didn't manage to get a good photo of him myself, so this pic is from here
Pretty girls!
Besties <3
Another great annual event which was on last week was the enlighten festival- where Canberra's (somewhat) famous attractions are lit up with projected art installations. I love seeing some of my favourite places lit up and appreciated for their architectural beauty.
There was also a huge build-your-own artwork area for kids which was pretty cool!
Big kids too, of course!
The projection of graffiti all over Old Parliament House was awesome!
Monday night was a big celebration down at the Lake for Canberra's birthday! Lots of things were happening- concerts, food stalls, millions of people- I only caught the end of it, but it was pretty great to see so many people having fun in our little Capital!
We were all awaiting the grande finale- the fireworks!! They started off a little small (and somewhat pathetic..)
But ended with a bang!!

Happy Birthday, Canberra x

Dress to impress!

We went to the Balck Opal stakes- the Canberra Races! It's pretty much just an excuse to dress up and drink champagne in the middle of the day. What could be better?
I forced my brother to take photos of me twirling in my perfect twirling dress! Believe it or not, this dress belonged to my Mormor (Swedish Grandma)- true 50's vintage! I really loved taking it for a much deserved day out! I felt very fabulous.
 My baaaby
My little Marc Jacobs shoes Mum picked up at a market in Melbourne!
The beautiful Nicky with her lovely Dean!
 Prettiest ladies there!
They take fashion very seriously at the races!
In the betting room! Because we're clearly hardcore gambers. Us and all our money... Er.
 Looking smart, boys!
A wonderful day of sunshine, colours, champagne and laughs with some of my very favourite people. x
