And then life happened!

I really have loved having this little space of the inter-web to indulge in a bit of blabbing about myself, but alas, I think the time has come the walrus said. Time to bid thee farewell, old friend.

I've been too busy living life to take as many photos of it and write about it, as sad as that may be for all of you out that hanging on to your seats in anticipation of my next post! (Ha!) The last few months have been hectic- I got a job, picked up extra classes, took up self defense-slash martial arts (krav maga) (that lasted about three weeks- but I could totally get out of a headlock if anyone feels like trying!), and have been to many gigs and on many random Sydney/Coast trips. So, taking photos and writing about myself has taken a backseat. I still love photography, and I still want to hone my mad skillz- and I still plan on doing that, but I think I might find a different platform for my hobby. Like a photo album perhaps. Printing photos is underrated! Or maybe I'll venture onto flikr or tumblr and become a real member of my generation. We'll see. :)
For now, good bye! Thanks for listening/reading/viewing/being there. It's been fun. x

Time Out

So. It's been a while! My biggest bloggy-break since I started writing this little thing I think! The thing is, I've been busy. Busy and somewhat uninspired. It's really quite difficult to write about things that just seem so... ordinary. Because lately, life has been exceptionally ordinary. Don't get me wrong, it's actually been really great at times, with a lot of fun outings and little mini-breaks, but mostly I have been studying. Working. Studying. Study, study. Booring. Certainly not blog-worthy. And then when I have done something worth writing about, like trips to Sydney to see my wonderful sis, great nights out with my cute gals, awesome concerts- I forget to document them. And I don't think my writing is exciting enough to go without pictures. Let's be honest, you're probably not reading this at all and have already skipped down through the pics to see if it's more exciting down there. Fair enough.

Anyway. Last week I finished off my last exams for the semester. WOOOOHOOO. Seriously, I could not finish them fast enough!! This semester has felt tough. A little rougher than usual. My motivation deserted me somewhere along the road, occasionally stopping by just enough to push me along, but it has certainly been lagging. But I think I know what I did wrong. I wasn't busy enough. I know, I know- I just said I've been really busy. I have, just not in a constant, routine-y kind of busy, more in a sudden, rushed way. So I think I need to get a job. Ha. I have been volunteering and occupying myself with various bits and pieces, but I think I'm a bit of a creature of routine. I need constant work to keep me on my toes and motivated. I definitely work best under pressure. So yeah, for the second half of this super-quickly-dissapearing year, I'm working on that. Time to job hunt. Ugh. After I have a little holiday time, that is, ha!

Here are some pics from a little celebratory mini-getaway last week to Tim's farm. Oh it's so lovely out there.
Getting my cowgirl on!
Tim and his friend, two peas in a pod.
It's so beautiful this time of year. I really love autumn.
So many cool, random old things around the place. I love this vintage horse trailer.
Tim was really in his element, making friends everywhere.
We even went on a little exploration down the road to Gebralter Falls!
Yes! Canberra has a waterfall, in case you were wondering. Probably has more than one in fact, I don't know. It was pretty cool really!
What could be a better end to the day than toasted MARSHMALLOWS?? Nothing, that's what. :)

My Edit.

I have always loved double exposure photography. When I dabbled with manual photography I loved the accidentally- awesome mistake when the film would stuff up and expose two images on to the one frame. Sometimes it would ruin the photo and look terrible and over-exposed, but sometimes, it created a bit of a masterpiece (usually mine were the former, to be honest). So, I decided why not do the same, but with a bit more control, to some of my favourite digital images? The first photo is one Tim took of me in Halifax, which I put some pretty autumn leaves over, because I love leaves! That first one was just using an image off photoshop, but in the below ones I used two images I had taken myself to create the effect.
This was a bit of a fave of Tim and I on the ferry from Sausalito over to San Fran Sisco. I decided to try two different images on top- the first one an American Flag graffiti we found, also in SF, and below, some magnolia flowers from the same trip. Not sure which I like best, but in the first one both images are pretty strong so maybe they're not that balanced.. but I like it anyway!
Then I decided to turn my pretty flower Nicola into a pretty flower!! Hehe I love this one, she looks so cute. The flower pic was one I took on a recent trip to the Pialago nurseries.

I used Adobe Photoshop Elements, and this awesome tutorial, so I'm not going to bother to explain the process (which is actually really easy), if you want to do it yourself, go here!: http://www.bubbyandbean.com/2012/07/tutorial-create-artistic-double.html

This past weekend was filled with fun events, dancing, gallivanting, camping, bonfires, beach babes and lots of laughs, so I'll have more good photos coming soon that I may just play around with as well!

Autumn Outings

I really love autumn- when the chill starts to set in, but its still warm enough for bare legs every now and again, and the leaves turn every shade of orange and gold. Oh- the colours! Last year I fell in love with the colours we saw in Canada, where Fall seemed to last forever- it was so beautiful! But good old Canberra gets some really stunning days in Autumn too!
Last weekend we celebrated the season as well as my lovely Mama's birthday by going out for a brunch and a leisurely stroll through a plant farm. A perfect Sunday.
 Yummo!
 Aww little Erica- hey, bro!
 Ma blueberries!!
This is a little pic I snapped on my phone on my regular run route- I have to say, it's not such a bad place to live!

Little Things

Sometimes it can be really hard not to get bogged down in the Big Things. The life things- what to do about my future, career, plans, goals. Those things have been confusing me and getting me down a bit lately, but I know it'll all work out eventually, so sometimes its important to just focus on the little things- coffee dates, making time for important people, painting something, taking a picture, going for a run. Appreciating that in reality, even if I might not know where I'll be or what I'll be doing a year from now- right now, everything is still pretty good!
Here are some photos from some recent lovely days about town. The above couple are from my friend's Mum's 50th which was out in Piallago- at a plant nursery- really beautiful area out there. Below the plant theme continues with some shots from the National Arboretum which we spent the day walking around- trees are cool!
Tim and our lovely Finnish friend, Sofie
I really love the 'wide brown land' statue
Oh, and then easter happened! I'm still eating too much chocolate and mum's little marzipan chickens! Yum.
It's my Mumma's Birthday tomorrow!
Grattis Mamma-lilla, du är bäst!
How gorgeous was she?! Still is!
You're the best mum in the whole world, thank you for being so awesome! :)

Little things make the world go around. There really is beauty in every single day, as long as you take the time to look for it.

Beach escape

Last weekend was wonderful. So, so lovely. I spent the weekend at a friend of the family's beach house in Broulee (South Coast). I absolutely love it there. There is nothing more calming and relaxing than being out of touch with my hectic life, hearing nothing but rolling waves and feeling the sand between my toes. I was pretty excited about the little road trip, sometimes you just need to escape for a little while!
Early morning beach walks with my mumma are the best. I love Broulee beach. We were also so lucky with the weather- it was glorious!
On Saturday we ventured into Moruya to go to the markets!
I loved this little lemonade and cupcake stall run by some sweet little girls!
On Sunday Tim joined us!
He decided he definitely needed to represent Canada in his lumberjack hat on the beach!
Gorilla Bay
My lovely Katie also joined us for Sunday!
 Tim gave us guitar-lele lessons!

A wonderful weekend with the best people. Wish I was still down there x
